North Sacramento Transitional House for Parolees & Ex-offenders
North Sacramento Transitional House is located in Sacramento, and is a
transitional house for parolees and ex-offenders, providing shelter,
transitional and supported housing and crime prevention education to
our community since 2006. The organization has been an important
community resource ever since.
North Sacramento Transitional House and its supporters have been at
the forefront of developing policies and practices that support
Community rights and expand the network of vital services for
ex-offenders recovering from Violence. Over its 5 year history, North
Sacramento Transitional House has been an innovator of dynamic
programs that have helped hundreds of men and educated thousands of
youth.
Demand for Our Services
North Sacramento Transitional House is experiencing an unprecedented
demand for its services – requests for housing have increased over 30%
since 2008 as the stresses of the recession have fueled a rise in
Crime throughout the state and the nation. North Sacramento
Transitional House is a lean organization, providing a secure, clean
and sober house for approximately 20 people each year and community
outreach and education to hundreds more. Yet the needs of the
community far exceed our ability to meet them.
The Future
With more people experiencing violence, living in poverty and facing
homelessness or eviction, community resources are stretched
increasingly thin. North Sacramento Transitional House is responding
by offering more intensive services to clients to fill in gaps caused
by the ripple effects of the economic downturn that have forced other
support programs our clients depend on to close, cut back, or limit
access.
Our organization needs increased financial support to sustain its
current operations and to adapt to meet the challenges ahead. We are
committed to developing new partnerships and creative approaches to
achieving our mission that emphasize both organizational and
environmental sustainability.
